Bombay High Court to Hear Disha Salian Case on 30th April 2025

Justice Sarang Kotwal assures petitioner’s counsel: “Matter is serious and carries urgency; we will grant a proper hearing.”
State SIT is not acceptable, petitioner seeks a Court-monitored investigation by a neutral SIT comprising CBI officers and reputed individuals such as Shri Sadanand Date from NIA and Shri Sameer Wankhede.
Update Date :- 21.04.2025 : In a significant development in the ongoing legal proceedings concerning the mysterious and controversial death of Ms. Disha Salian, the Bombay High Court has scheduled the matter for hearing on 30th April 2025.
Earlier today, the Division Bench comprising Hon’ble Justice Sarang V. Kotwal directed the High Court Registry to list the writ petition for final hearing on the aforementioned date. The direction came in response to a mention made before High Court during the morning session by Advocate Tanveer Nizam, who is appearing on behalf of petitioner Shri Satish Salian, the father of the deceased.
Adv. Nizam informed the Court that the matter had already received clearance from the Registry, and emphasized the seriousness of the allegations, which include gangrape, murder, and a subsequent cover-up. He further submitted that although cognizance of the complaint has been taken by the State Government and handed over to a Special Investigation Team (SIT), the investigation is progressing without registration of an FIR, which is in direct violation of legal norms.
The petitioner has categorically pleaded that a State SIT is not acceptable, and instead sought a Court-monitored investigation by a neutral SIT comprising CBI officers and reputed individuals such as Shri Sadanand Date and Shri Sameer Wankhede, citing the need for an independent and credible probe in the larger public interest.
Taking note of the urgency, Justice Kotwal remarked, “The matter is serious and carries urgency. We will give you proper hearing,” and accordingly directed the Registry to list the matter for substantive hearing on 30.04.2025.
It is pertinent to note that there are two major filings in this matter:
1. A comprehensive Writ Petition of around 350 pages filed by Shri Satish Salian seeking justice for his daughter; and
2. An Interim Application – IA (St.) No. 8109 of 2025 filed on 15th April 2025, spanning 285 pages, which brings on record significant additional evidence.
The said Interim Application includes:
- A detailed 166-page affidavit by Shri Satish Salian;
- Documentation of subsequent developments post-filing of the Writ Petition;
- Crucial material evidence, and
- A detailed forensic report, reinforcing the allegation of a pre-planned conspiracy and systematic cover-up in the case.
While a copy of the original Writ Petition has already been made available to all major media outlets, the 285-page Interim Application, including the affidavit and annexures, is being selectively shared with members of the press on request and after approval from the petitioner.
This case continues to draw nationwide attention due to the involvement of high-profile individuals and serious procedural lapses in the initial investigation. The forthcoming hearing is poised to be a pivotal moment in the legal journey toward uncovering the truth and securing justice for Disha Salian.
Further developments will be reported following the hearing on 30th April 2025.
