[Big breaking] Bombay High Court listed contempt case against Dhruv Rathee and others for admission on 11th July 2024 for admission. [Criminal Writ Petition (St.) No. 13934 of 2024]
Said petition is kept as high on board i.e. Serial No. 4 before the Division Bench of Justice Revathi Mohite Dere & Justice Shyam Chandak.
In this case other Accused are Rahul Gandhi, Uddhav Thackrey, Sanjay Raut, Aditya Thackrey, Mid-Day and others.

Petition is filed by ‘Indian Lawyers & Human Rights Activists Association’ through it’s Vice President Shri Mursalin Sheikh.
Case is regarding false narratives and conspiracy theories spread by the accused regarding police investigation being done by the Mumbai Police.
The prayers in the writ petition are as under;
“(i) Take cognizance of the willful contempt of the specific direction of this Hon’ble Court in Nilesh Navalakha Vs. Union of India 2021 SCC Online Bom 56, and punish the accused respondent under Section 2(b) and 12 of the Contempt of Court Act, 1971 r/w Article 215 of the Constitution of India;
(ii) Direct the constitution of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) including CBI, IB, IT, ED, and all other prominent agenc ies to investigate the complete conspiracy and take proper penal action against the accused involved in the greater conspiracy to spread false narratives and conspiracy theories by dishonestly twisting material facts, with ulterior motives, including spreading hatred and disharmony among citizens about various Government institutions and also against the country with ulterior motive of obstructing the progress and development of this country;
(iii) Direct the concerned police officers to take action under Sections 192, 193, 409, 120(b), 34, and 107 etc. of IPC against the accused who are directly and indirectly involved in abating the offences of misusing police machinery and public propertyand also the offence of creating false evidence, knowing that such evidence will prejudice the pending investigation and be used in court proceedings,
(iv) Direct Respondents including ‘X’, Google, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, etc to remove all such false narratives and other content from their social media platforms and take action of suspension/deletion of account against the accounts of the respondent accused who are involved in such serious crimes;
(v) Direct the appropriate authority and the Union of India to take action for the cancellation of the registration of newspapers ‘Dainik Samana’, ‘Dainik Mid-Day’, etc and take all possible actions against them which are available under the law;
(vi) Pass such other orders as may be deemed necessary based on the facts and circumstances of the case.”
